PhD Student (m/w/d) – Automated image quality optimization of digital rearview mirrors

Your tasks:

Review and consideration of legal standards (e.g. UN ECE R46) as the baseline for the development and evaluation of test mehtods for image quality (IQ)
Research state-of-the-art IQ validation methods (e.g. IEEE P2020)
Definition of KPIs (e.g. white balance, exposure, dynamic range) to judge the image quality of digital rearview mirrors
Collection and categorization of real-world scenarios (e.g. tunnel entrance, snow)
Reproduction of real-world test drive scenarios in the lab and definition of KPIs to evaluate the image quality
Assessment of lab equipment and concept proposal for test automation
Achieve full IQ test automation including respective documentation
Implement strategy to optimize the image quality automatically (e.g. using deep learning)

Your profile:

Excellent master degree in computer science, physics, optics, electrical engineering, or related disciplines
Strong understanding of imaging and image signal processing
Experience with CMOS image sensor and digital imaging pipeline and algorithm (e.g. AE, AWB, LTM)
Good programming skills (e.g. Matlab, Python, C/C++)
Practical experience with test automation in a laboratory environment
Very good English language communication skills, both written and verbal
