Business Development Manager

Based in Portchester, UK. We are currently looking for a Business Development Manager.

 

The primary responsibility of this role is to seek out and establish, healthy, collaborative, customer relationships through pro-active oversight and a hands-on, engaging approach to business development, with the objective of achieving revenue growth for Motherson UK. This requires a strong capability to understand the customer’s needs, as well as the Company’s processes and business requirements. The person in this role must also ensure that opportunities are managed in a professional and timely manner, and that there is a strong connection to cross-functional stakeholders. Additional supporting activities include research and analysis of the market, sector, competitive environment and product offerings.

Your tasks:

Business Development

  • Develop relationships with new and existing customers to find, quote and win new business opportunities in line with budget targets and sales plans.
  • Represent the company on various customer / industry committees and at conferences and seminars.
  • Develop and coordinate relevant marketing intelligence for targeted project and strategic decision-making purposes.
  • Represent and negotiate on behalf of the company as required, whilst maintaining a sound and credible working relationship with all customers and departments of the company, to maximise profitability.
  • Identify, use and manage appropriate resources to develop the motherson brand in diversified markets.
  • Assist in the development of 5-year plans, annual budgets and short to medium term plans designed to achieve customer and company requirements and improvement of the company's competitive position.
  • Drive the Bid Team process for new quotation activities in line with SDS Phase Zero deliverables.
  • Contribute to the development of programme contract details and requirements, ensuring alignment to a disciplined SDS programme kick-off process.
  • Input into the creation of customer strategies that reinforce and evolve the Company’s competitiveness and reputation in the sector.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of marketing activities on new products and technologies in conjunction with key internal stakeholders.

 

Business Analysis

  • Act as a key contributor to the Sales organisation’s annual business planning process.
  • Undertake, as required, investigations into specific opportunities, with a view to understanding the competitive landscape and market capability.

 

Market Analysis

  • Support ongoing market, technology and competitor intelligence through identification of business need, and socialise across key internal stakeholders.

 

Business Imperatives

  • Support the Director of Sales UK with any other duties deemed appropriate and required.
  • Ensure compliance with, and adoption of, the 5S programme as it pertains to the organisation of your work environment.
  • Adhere to the day-to-day working practices and departmental procedures in accordance with the Global Sales Standards.
  • Ensure the compliance of the Health & Safety Policy and arrangements by employees under your control.

Your profile:

  • Computer literacy.
  • Engineering qualification (desirable).
  • Experience in business development in the Manufacturing sector i.e. automotive/aerospace/defence.
  • Experience working internationally/cross-culturally (desirable).
  • Account management experience/managerial experience (desirable).
  • Knowledge of manufactured components/systems supply.
  • Knowledge of selling processes and techniques.
  • Strong interpersonal/communication skills.
  • Ability to analyse information to support development of effective business recommendations and decision making.
  • Highly organised and able to prioritise activities to achieve customer and business objectives.
  • Strong commercial acumen.
  • Highly numerate.
